The KELLY SHU™ Installation F.A.Q.'s

Q: I have a  SHURE® BETA 52®A Microphone, will the Kelly SHU support it?
A: The Shure® BETA 52® is a very heavy microphone with a tall profile. The Kelly SHU will support the BETA 52®, however internal installation is required with this particular microphone.

Q: I run a full front RESO Head, how do I get the cord out of the drum?
A: At the moment, we do not have an external connector available to handle your microphone cable. Most guys have been installing an XLR socket permanently in the drum shell. Contrary to popular belief, the installation of an XLR socket does not effect the sound or acoustics of the drum. If you plan on making your installation more permanent, we suggest installing the socket. Your kick drum has a number of holes drilled in it already and the convenience of the XLR socket will be a welcomed addition.

You may also choose to cut a minimum-diameter hole in your front head. HOLZ® Drum Head protectors go down to 2 inches, which will leave the most front head material possible. The rounded edges of the HOLZ® protectors will also give the microphone cable a smooth place to rest on.
